ICA | Would you like to be a student buddy? |
| February 2nd, 2010 under ICA Volunteer. [ Comments: none ]
|
|
Student buddies are highly valued members of the ICA student community, who generously donate their time in assisting newbies with finding their way within and around the ICA community. As students that have already been with ICA for some time would know, this can sometimes be a little daunting to begin with. Being a buddy could involve sharing first hand experiences, or assisting new students to connect with their online community.
Whilst being a buddy does involve a time commitment, it is very flexible and should only involve a few hours a month. Students wishing to become a part of our wonderful buddy team, should be familiar with the ICA environment, and be willing to support our new students.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a buddy, or if you would like to become a valued member of our ‘Buddy Team’, please contact Jamee Tenzer at jamee.tenzer@icoachacademy.com

ICA | Teleclass Etiquette 101 |
| January 22nd, 2010 under Teleclasses. [ Comments: none ]
|
|
|
As we wrap up our 2nd week of classes in 2010, it is helpful to refresh ourselves on teleclass etiquette.
ICA is committed to providing students the highest quality training
available. All programs are delivered by teleclasses, using high quality
bridge lines. The following guidelines have been provided to enhance your
teleclass experience and ensure the call environment is kept clear and
functional for all participants.
** Create a Quiet Space **
Please create a quiet space from which to participate in the calls. You
will get the most out of the call if you sit quietly and really focus on
what’s happening on the calls. You may be tempted to move around and do
other things during the class, but please allow yourself to be totally
present to the group and conversation instead. If you must move around for
something, make sure that you have the mute button on so that no
distracting noise comes across the phone and into the group space (yes, we
can hear everything!).
** Minimise Distractions **
It is important to minimize background noise and interruptions. Turn off
the ringer on any other phone line in your vicinity and minimize
background noise such as computers, radios and televisions, pets, family
members, and other household noises. If you are interrupted during the
class, use your mute button or the *6 mute feature of the bridge line. Do
not place the class on hold if we will hear music when you do so. Pressing
*6 again will turn the mute off so that you can share.
** Dial in Technology **
Using a “landline” phone with a headset system is the best case scenario.
Please do not use hands free speaker phones. These amplify any background
noise, make it difficult for others to hear what you are saying, and often
create a “humming”.
Cell / mobile phones are not ideal. If you must use a cell phone, use it
from a fixed location with a strong signal. Please do not use hands free
speaker phones: additionally, using blue tooth technology further reduces
clarity on a bridge call and can create a “skipping” or hesitating
sensation.
When using SKYPE, or other voice over internet protocol systems please use
a headset system. Please do not use a computer with a built in microphone,
and external speakers. These create a “feedback loop” - an echoing
sensation in the call.
If you are using a prepaid calling card, make sure you have ample minutes.
Any warnings such as “you have one minute left” will most likely be heard
by callers, plus you will have to disconnect and reconnect if you run out
of time.
If you have call waiting, disconnect it before calling.
If you use a cordless phone, stay close to the base to avoid static.
If you have any questions about your teleclass experience we ask that you contact
us via support@icoachacademy.com

ICA | New Assessment | Starting Feb 1st 2010 |
| January 19th, 2010 under Assessment, Program Updates, [TRAINING UPDATES]. [ Comments: none ]
|
|
In response to students’ requests for added rigor to our curriculum, we are happy to announce one change to Assessments.
Beginning on February 1, 2010, students will be required to post their answers to the reflection questions in the modules onto the Forum/Discussion Board.
A couple of questions you may have about this:
1. Will anyone be giving me feedback and responding to my posts?
While you will not receive formal feedback from the assessment team, you will be sharing your ideas with your peers. Students and trainers will have the opportunity to read your answers. This is about your own self-reflection and learning. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers.
2. How will anyone know that I’ve done this?
Again, this is for you and your individual learning. We invite everyone to be self-responsible and assess your own learning. You will find that, when you get to Supervised Coach toward the end of your program, you will be more prepared if you have taken full advantage of this self-assessment.
Please let us know if you have other questions and we look forward to reading your posts!
Thank you for continuing to make ICA the most exciting and excellent coach training school that it is!!
Very best,
Jamee Tenzer, PCC, Assessment Coordinator

Our recent special teleseminar, held earlier this week, focusing on the question of, ‘What is Lobii?’, was a huge success with many students attending.
Our CEO, Bronwyn Bowery-Ireland opened proceedings with the Lobii vision, and talked about the exciting opportunities that the Lobii platform will offer members of the Lobii community.
Also on hand to answer questions were Robyn Logan, our Strategy Director and Bill Turpin, our Business Development Manager. Robyn and Bill answered many questions and in an effort to keep our audio a little bit shorter, we have selected a few questions which are included following Bron’s outline of Lobii.
We hope you enjoy listening!

He’s also worked personally with one of the pioneers of the personal growth field, Tony Robbins.
Through his training and experiences, Wesley has identified what he believes to be the seven most common limiting behavioural patterns. He’s also identified effective approaches to eliminating those patterns - he calls his approach, Reinvention.
