Business Building Coach Assessment
January 10th, 2006 under Assessment. [ Comments: none ]

It appears there has been some confusion within the student community regarding the assessment requirements for Business Building Coach.  This will be addressed further in the Course Update Teleclass, but in summary, the changes are as follows:

a.) Business Plan: The *only* change is that the Business Plan is no longer formally marked or assessed by ICA.

This change was made as a result of student feedback. It was recognised that Business Plans are a difficult thing to attach a % mark to due to their highly subjective and personal nature.

Students who have already completed their business plans in anticipation of receiving feedback from ICA are most welcome to continue to submit their work.  They will be provided feedback specific to their plan (rather than a formal mark).   Submissions must be received by the 28th February 2006 (assessment@icoachacademy.com).

Existing requirements that remain unchanged:

a.) Business Plan: All Students still need to complete the Business Plan as it continues to be a valuable learning exercise within the Business Building Coach course.

b.) Assessment: Students must attend and maintain records of attendance for 100% of the Business Building Coach Classes (submitted to assessment@icoachacademy.com).

c.) Exam: This course does not have an exam requirement.

So, in summary, the only current assessment requirement for Business Building Coach is that 100% of classes be attended.

Simplified Module Codes
January 10th, 2006 under [STUDENT ADMIN]. [ Comments: none ]

The module codes for all courses have been simplified.   Instead of having their own numeric identifier they will be coded with the course code and then the name of the module.

For example:

FC100: Name of module
AC100: Name of module
AC200: Name of module
BC100: Name of module
PT100: Name of module

A suggested sequence for teleclass has also been added to the attendance tracking sheet:

http://learn.icoachacademy.com/foundation/toolbox/ICA_class_log.xls

PLEASE NOTE: However, please note that all courses continue to be flexible and this is not a compulsory order of attendance. Students should refer to the Academic Calendar to best determine when, and in which order, they choose to attend their teleclasses for each Course.

Rescheduled AC100 (UAC1) Class
January 10th, 2006 under Teleclasses. [ Comments: none ]

Unfortunately there was a hiccup with the scheduling of an AC100 class (UAC1) in December and the class did not have an ICA trainer attend.  This class has now been rescheduled as follows:

When:18 Jan @ 7pm NY EST
Topic:  UAC1
Bridge: +1 641 497 7278,Access code 371453#

ICA would like to acknowledge the students that attended this class.  A decision was made by the students to continue on for the full hour to review the UAC module themselves.  ICA received great feedback from many of the students who participated in this session.  All students who attended this session will be credited as having completed the UAC (part 1) teleclass.

Orientation Calls
January 10th, 2006 under Teleclasses, [STUDENT ADMIN]. [ Comments: none ]

A second orientation call will now be held each month.  These calls are a fantastic opportunity for new students, or any member of the ICA community, to familiarise themselves with the ICA Classroom and Discussion board.  These calls are facilitated by Student Support Coach, Frankie Picasso.

First Monday of each month @ 5pm NY EST and Third Monday of each month @ noon NY EST (see academic calendar for further details).

Would you like to be a Student Buddy?
January 10th, 2006 under [STUDENT ADMIN]. [ Comments: none ]

Student buddies are highly valued members of the ICA student community who volunteer their time to assist newbies to get up and running with their studies.  This could involve sharing first hand experiences or assisting new students to connect with their ICA online community.

The time commitment is flexible but generally involves about 1 - 2 hours per month.  The requirements of this position are that you be familiar with the ICA learning environment, have great email communication skills and be willing to support new people doing their coach training.

If you would be interested in being a volunteer student buddy, please contact Sally Bridger (sally.bridger@icoachacademy.com)
