Supervised Coach is an assessment of your coaching skills and involves each student coaching a client (ICA or outside) for six sessions (two sessions for those in the ACCP program).
It is currently only offered twice a year, beginning in February and August.
Supervised Coach is the only course at ICA that you must register for, and usually one of the very last courses taken just prior to graduation.
In addition to its benefit in further developing your own coaching skills and style, Supervised Coach is an excellent course to hear coaching and feedback for coaching, and to observe the coaching competencies in action.
During each Supervised Coach class, three students will present a ‘live’ 15 minute coaching session. Each student is responsible for arranging for their own client. The coaching sessions begin at the top of the hour, 20 minutes after the hour and 40 minutes after the hour. The sessions are scheduled, so that clients can enter the class at the appropriate time.
Directly following the coaching session, the teleclass leader will give a few minutes of acknowledgment and feedback, and then the next session will begin. Each student receives a written feedback form via email after the session. The criteria for feedback are the ICF Coaching Competencies, and a document outlining these competencies is located in the Supervised Coach section of the learnsite.
