ICA Community Bulletin

We are growing faster than ever at ICA and we have set ourselves a target of enrolling 33 new students each month.  We are happy to report that we have met our target for the month of April and May and look forward to doing it again in June.

You can support us in meeting that goal!  If you refer a friend or colleague to ICA in the next 2 months, and they enroll in one of our programs, we will thank you by sending you $100USD for every enrollment. This is not an affiliate program and it will expire in two weeks on 30th June 2006.

So, all you need to do is email (dennis@icoachacademy.com) us the details of your referrals, including the following information:

* Name of prospective coach

* Phone

* Email

* Country

* Your name

Dennis Griffin (dennis@icoachacademy.com) will keep track of everyone and their referrals. The student who has the most number of referrals that enroll at ICA by the 30th June 2006 will receive an extra gift of an IPOD.

If there is anyone that has asked you about becoming a coach, or about your training experience at ICA, now is the time to send in their name.

ICA is currently reviewing the assessment and examination requirements for the CPCP and ACCP.  It is anticipated this review will be complete by the 30th August 2006.

In the meantime, students are not required to submit any course or program based exams (eg. Foundation, Power Tools, Advanced 1, Advanced 2, Business Building Coach, CPCP, etc).  The exams are still available in the learnsite as a resource for students.
However, it is not required that they be submitted for assessment.

If you have recently submitted a course based exam we will contact you directly. Your exam will be marked in line with original assessment guidelines and you will be notified of the outcome.

We have had many requests from current students and graduates to offer a course that will support you in being able to lead teleclasses in the ICA model of facilitation.

Beginning July 17th, Karen Cappello and Bill Turpin will be co-facilitating ICA’s Train the Trainer class.  In this six-week series, students will learn how to develop skills in delivering training via teleclasses using the ICA model of training as a framework. It will also cover how to use competencies to evaluate the training course process and outcomes.

We have designed this series to include:

1. The principles, processes and ethics of training adults

2. A one-hour opportunity for student facilitation of teleclass training, with the goal of demonstrating competency. This facilitation will incorporate:
a. the training plan design
b. evaluation of process and outcomes

3. The use of a blog to reflect learning and to market your teleclass

New Time Option for Advanced 1 Teleclass

A new Advanced 1 Teleclass will begin on June7th, 2006, scheduled for Thursdays at 6pm NY EST, with teleclass leader Angela Bird.

The class times for Advanced 1 will be:

• Option 1: Tuesday, 6am NY EST (IK)
• Option 2: Wednesday, 4pm NY EST (JW)
• Option 3: Wednesday, 6pm NY EST (AB)
• Option 4: Thursday, 9pm NY EST (SB)
• Option 5: Wednesday, 6am NY EST (FP)
• Option 6: Wednesday, 8pm NY EST (JC)
• Option 7: Thursday, 6pm NY EST (AB) ***new time***

Beginning June 2006, ICA will be holding regular Open Meetings for all members of the ICA Student Community. These information sharing sessions will be hosted by Karen Cappello (Chief Learning Officer) and students will have the opportunity to discuss current topics in coaching and ask questions related to their program.

For those of you who use Skype, we’d like to share these tips on muting your microphone. If you are calling into the teleseminar bridge lines on skypeout and not able to press the 6 button to mute, you can use the following tips:

1. Make sure that you’ve downloaded the latest version of Skype. Check in at Skype for the updated version.
2. Right click in the calling window and choose “Mute Microphone”.
3. Alternatively you can also use the “Call” menu in the menu bar to mute your microphone.
4. You can enter numbers on the keypad to mute yourself out when on a call by clicking over to the “DIAL” tab and clicking the digits they want to dial just like a normal telephone keypad….even when the call is in progress.
5. You can also pull up the “volume control” icon that every PC has and select “mute” on the microphone.
