I was giving a keynote speech this past weekend, and a gentleman from the back of the room (last row) shared some very powerful insights with the group. And I realized that even in a very large and didactic learning environment, there was knowledge coming through from the back of the room as well as the front.
And than I came across this quote that summed it up for me- Read more »

Over the last few weeks ICA has received reports from trainers and students regarding interference (echo’s and background noise) on the ICA Bridge line during some classes. We have contacted our Bridge company and been able to establish that the Bridge line is not yet able to fully support skype and that this is the most likely cause of the interference.
As it is our intention that student be able to access the teleclasses using the most cost efficient method possible (eg. phone cards or skype), we have decided to change our Bridge line provider. Read more »

by Karen Cappello
At ICA, we are a learning organization. This means that learning is one of our top values, and that we are continually learning in everything we do. Through our courses, our discussion board, our interactions with each other and our assessments, we are always creating new perspectives, seeing new possibilities and gaining new levels of awareness.
I learn so much each week at ICA, and I would like to begin sharing some of the brilliance that I observe all around me. I will be sharing my observations with you in our student bulletin blog. I welcome your comments, as you – students, alumni, teleclass facilitators and staff – are my greatest source of learning!
I received a post in the Ask Karen discussion forum last week that I learned a lot from. It was extremely insightful and I want to share it with you:

Assessment Update |
| August 1st, 2006 under [STUDENT ADMIN], Assessment. [ Comments: none ]

|
Over the past few months, ICA has been reviewing the
student assessment procedures. This has been an extremely
detailed and important process and we are excited to now
release this update to our student community.
The updated Assessment reflects a more streamlined and
comprehensive approach. It provides a brilliant opportunity
for reflective learning as students take time to look at what
they have learnt and how best to apply that learning to being
a successful coach.
———————————————————————–
To ensure all students understand our new assessment process we
are going to be rolling it out over the next six months.

** IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON GRADUATING IN 2007 **
If you are planning on graduating in 2007 onwards then please

|
|
In August, Laurene Vaughan (ICA Trainer) will be travelling to Italy to attend and present a paper at the Participatory Design Conference 2006.
Laurene will be presenting a paper on how people (consumers and users of the designed artefacts) are designers too. They may not be the creators of the original item, but they do through their everyday use of things, re-create and customise objects and systems to make
them their own.
Laurene is passionate about how important the everyday poetry of life being lived is creative, and that this process needs to be recognised as creativity in action by individuals and broader social and business organisations.
