Why ICA Rocks
May 30th, 2007 under Acknowledgement, [COMMUNITY]. [ Comments: 1 ]

I attended my last class tonight (I graduate on Friday), and I cannot recommend this experience to aspiring coaches more.

I recently interviewed to become an independent contractor coach with a coaching firm, and I realized just how much ICA prepared me as a coach! I was giving all of the right answers primarily as a result of all of the things I’ve learned.

Just thought I’d share…I’m looking forward to being part of this awesome student blog!

ICA Bridge line
February 11th, 2007 under Acknowledgement, [STUDENT ADMIN], Teleclasses. [ Comments: none ]

ICA is currently reviewing the Bridge line use for all ICA Teleclasses.

ICA moved to the current Bridge line in January 2007 in anticipation of it providing a higher quality service to skype callers. However, feedback from within our ICA community (both ICA staff and students) has indicated that this line is not an improvement and that not only skype, but also regular phone line callers, are experiencing difficulties with accessing calls and the line quality.

We are highly concerned and are following this up with our Bridge company as a matter of urgency. At the same time, we are also researching and testing alternative bridge lines to use as either a replacement or a back up. Either way, we anticipate a result within the next couple of weeks.

Thank you to our community for their feedback and patience. It is our intention that students be able to access their teleclasses without difficulty and using the most cost efficient means possible and your contribution to this process has been highly valued.

We will keep you updated and please do continue to send us your feedback via support@ica.helpserve.com.

Your Feedback at Work
December 12th, 2006 under Acknowledgement. [ Comments: none ]

We received some feedback from one of our magnificant students about our new “Client Feedback Form”, which is used in the Peer Coaching part of the program.

Among other things, the form asks the client to identify three things the student coach could do better next time. It was felt that this type of question encouraged clients to focus too much on the negatives and went against the spirit of coaching. We agree, so we’ve rewritten the form so that it encourages clients to build on the strengths of their student coach, while providing room for all relevant feedback.

The new form is called the “Client Response to Coaching Form”. You will find it on the Assessment page of the Learnsite as well as in the Advanced 1 Toolbox. We hope you like it!! If you have used any of the old forms with clients you don’t need to redo them, just begin using the new form with any new clients.

And keep the feedback coming!! We love your insights!!

August 1st, 2006 under Acknowledgement, Newsworthy Events. [ Comments: none ]

In August, Laurene Vaughan (ICA Trainer) will be travelling to Italy to attend and present a paper at the Participatory Design Conference 2006.

Laurene will be presenting a paper on how people (consumers and users of the designed artefacts) are designers too. They may not be the creators of the original item, but they do through their everyday use of things, re-create and customise objects and systems to make
them their own.

Laurene is passionate about how important the everyday poetry of life being lived is creative, and that this process needs to be recognised as creativity in action by individuals and broader social and business organisations.
