ICA | China Launch Postponed
October 14th, 2008 under Newsworthy Events, Program Updates. [ Comments: none ]

ICA is committed to the launch of our China CPCP program and after much consideration we have decided to postpone the launch that was due to take place in September 2008, until April 2009.

The decision to postpone this amazing event is to ensure that  we continue to deliver the highest quality coach training possible in this truly global environment. We envisage that this launch will be a huge event come April next year.  In addition to this we have to finalise a few legalities that will allow us to continue to provide this training unhindered into 2009 and beyond.

So stay tuned and be ready to be part of the celebration in April 2009.

Your ICA Team

‘Become a Coach’ Teleconference
February 13th, 2008 under Activities and Teleclasses, ICA Volunteer, Newsworthy Events, [ICA EVENTS]. [ Comments: none ]

Throughout 2008, ICA will be holding a series of teleconferences designed to spread the word about coaching as a career and, in particular, coach training with ICA.  These calls will be held monthly and will be open to anyone, from anywhere in the world.

As a student of ICA, it is important to us that you have access to this information and these calls so we will email you prior to each event.  Although much of the the content of the calls will often be specific to the coach training research, you are always most welcome to attend or contribute.  Plus, we would love you to pass the information on to your lists, family, friends, and colleagues - bascially, anyone basically anyone you feel would be interested in discovering more about coach
training.

The theme for this months call will be ‘Become a Qualified Coach’, and it will be focused on those who have not yet pursued coach training.  The call will be hosted by Robyn Logan (Strategy Director) and Dennis Griffin (Business Manager).

ICA Trainer - Linda Anderson / Support & Sponsorship Please

CAN LINDA SWIM 2.7KM IN THE OCEAN

ICA Trainer, Linda Anderson is set to take to the ocean (and sharks) again this summer!!

Linda is participating in the challenging and gruelling ‘Macquarie Big Swim’ at the end of January 2008.  This challenging swim is 2.7km (54 lengths of an Olympic pool, but with the added difficulty of waves and possibly sharks also!).  To add to Linda’s personal challenge she has discovered her shoulder injury, sustained last summer, has not recovered during her lazy winter so as she say’s, “I am currently swimming in circles!”

To help Linda achieve this big, scary and maybe a little crazy goal, Linda has signed up with CanToo, www.cantoo.org.au a wonderful organisation who fund researchers for the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation. 100% of money raised through CanToo is donated to Cure Cancer Australia - every $75,000 AUD raised, funds a full-time researcher for 12 months.  Almost everyone we know ( including Linda) has been touched by cancer in some capacity so this is an organisation that Linda is very proud to support.

Linda has set herself a big, bold fundraising goal to match the big, bold swimming goal.  Linda’s intention is to raise $2,700AUD….which is $1 for every metre she swims in this big race.

How can we support Linda?  Read more »

ICF Election - profile Karen Tweedie

Dear Graduates

As you all know the ICF election is on and for the first time they have three candidates. One of the candidates Karen Tweedie was the ICFA (Autralasia) president and is from Australia. She has asked me to forward her profile to ICF credentialed members.
I am not endorsing her but rather passing on information to you as I agreed to.
Happy voting.

ICF President elect Nominee for 2008

What is your ICF experience?

I have been a member of ICF since 2001. I joined primarily to ensure that I had a professional network to tap into and learn with. As a result of that decision I met some fantastic people - a number of whom I still collaborate and work with today, I have participated in some great Professional Development and had the opportunity to learn and grow as a leader. Each aspect of my experience with ICF contributes to the growth and professionalism of coaching.

As an ICF leader I have local, Regional and Global Leadership experience and have been part of a number of Global Taskforces and committees. I have been Board liaison with the Regulatory Committee, which gave me insight into the challenges and need for maintaining networks of intelligence to explore regulatory issues members may face globally.

As current ICF Treasurer I chair the Finance Committee. The ICF is on a firm financial footing and this year I have had the opportunity to lead a global team in bringing innovation and creativity to the task of designing a number of non-dues revenue streams for the ICF. We are designing ways to reach out to customers and consumers of coaching services, forge Strategic Alliances and find broad opportunities to achieve our strategic objectives whilst growing our financial well-being. This will allow us to increase value for all stakeholders whilst increasing ICF revenue for future initiatives - al without imposing any financial burden on our members.

I am delighted to be able to continue my gift of service as part of the ICF Global leadership team for 2008. The individuals on this Board bring a mix of skills and wide demographic representation for our membership - from Europe, Canada, the United States and Australasia.

In August, Laurene Vaughan (ICA Trainer) will be travelling to Italy to attend and present a paper at the Participatory Design Conference 2006.

Laurene will be presenting a paper on how people (consumers and users of the designed artefacts) are designers too. They may not be the creators of the original item, but they do through their everyday use of things, re-create and customise objects and systems to make
them their own.

Laurene is passionate about how important the everyday poetry of life being lived is creative, and that this process needs to be recognised as creativity in action by individuals and broader social and business organisations.
