ICA | New Assessment | Starting Feb 1st 2010 |
| January 19th, 2010 under Assessment, Program Updates, [TRAINING UPDATES]. [ Comments: none ]
|
|
In response to students’ requests for added rigor to our curriculum, we are happy to announce one change to Assessments.
Beginning on February 1, 2010, students will be required to post their answers to the reflection questions in the modules onto the Forum/Discussion Board.
A couple of questions you may have about this:
1. Will anyone be giving me feedback and responding to my posts?
While you will not receive formal feedback from the assessment team, you will be sharing your ideas with your peers. Students and trainers will have the opportunity to read your answers. This is about your own self-reflection and learning. There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers.
2. How will anyone know that I’ve done this?
Again, this is for you and your individual learning. We invite everyone to be self-responsible and assess your own learning. You will find that, when you get to Supervised Coach toward the end of your program, you will be more prepared if you have taken full advantage of this self-assessment.
Please let us know if you have other questions and we look forward to reading your posts!
Thank you for continuing to make ICA the most exciting and excellent coach training school that it is!!
Very best,
Jamee Tenzer, PCC, Assessment Coordinator

A word of clarification about assessment changes. |

|
To our wonderful student body and ICA Community: A word of clarification about assessment changes.
Because we have a system at ICA that finds students at many different stages in their learning process throughout the year, it is best to see the assessment changes as part of a transition period.
Please be assured, this if you enrolled prior to the changes, you will not be expected to meet the new requirements. However, we invite you to take advantage of the opportunity to be coached for 24 sessions during your time as a student at ICA. We also invite you to use the new peer coach assessment forms (Coach Reflection) for your peer clients if they have not already filled out the previous version.
If you have already completed your written exam or started on a Case Study (as an alternative to a Research Paper) we will accept them.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Jamee at assessment@icoachacademy.com
Listen to assessment coordinator, Jamee Tenzer and Training Coordinator, Sheri Boone, discuss and answer questions following the changes made to the assessment process in June, 2009.

ICA | Power Tool Assessment |
| March 29th, 2009 under Assessment, Learning and development. [ Comments: none ]

|
A note of clarity and support from the assessment team: Below is a short description of what we are expecting from the Power Tool Assessment. We hope this will support you as you move ahead with the creation of your Power Tool.
Power Tool
For this assessement you are required to create you own powertool. This tool should be based on the same conceptual model as the ICA powertools where two opposing perspectives are presented in a way that clients can use as part of the coaching process. The aim is to use the tool to explore and enable empowered change for people and to add to your coaching toolbox as part of your evolving coaching practice.
This means that the tool that you create should:
- Explain/outline the two perspectives - what they are and how they inform our lives.
- Include activities, questions etc that you would use with clients to help them with this process
- Be practical and explain the two perspectives and how they inform what we do in a language that is accessible for clients.
Your powertool should build on what you have learnt from studying the powertools. It can be useful to design your powertool to add to your overall coaching approach and coaching model.
The powertool is a pass/fail assessment. In order to pass it is essential that you address all these issues and present it in clear and accessible language.
Powertools are usually between 3-4 pagesin length.

ICA| Changes to Supervised Coach and Graduation |

|
|
ICA is committed to providing a program of the highest quality and flexibility, and in keeping with this commitment we have decided to expand our Supervised Coach program.
Presently we offer Supervised Coach and the opportunity to graduate twice a year. To provide our students with more options, we will now offer not only an increased number of Supervised Coach classes, but also these classes will now run continually throughout the year. Along with this we will now offer graduation 4 times a year, which will allow students who have completed their program, to graduate earlier should they choose to do so. Students will still stay within the same group thoughout the program and will be required to attend all 12 sessions as before. Students will be required to register for both Supervised Coach and graduaton via the learnsite.
However, we do ask that before registering for Supervised Coach, students refer to the pre requisites for Supervised Coach eligibility. The pre requisites can be accessed via the learnsite or by clicking here.
Beginning the first week of November we will offer:
- 6 new Supervised Coach classes beginning the first week of each month
- 6 weeks duration, attending twice weekly
- 6 time and day options each month
- 4 graduations per year

Blog Update |
| June 17th, 2007 under Assessment. [ Comments: none ]
|
|
ICA student blogs have been up and running for several months now and it has been exciting to hear the powerful effects that online journalling can have on so many students’ learning journeys. We have received feedback from some students, however, that the assessment criteria of 3 - 5 links per week was rather excessive and didn’t fit with a natural flow of ideas and connections that made blogging such a powerful activity. We’ve changed the criteria to reflect this. Remember, the key thing with blogging is not so much the number of entries and links, but how effectively you have used your blog to support reflective practice, Read more »

Bridge line update - 2nd april 2007 |

|
|
New Bridge Line
As of the 2nd April, 2007, the Bridge number for all ICA Teleclasses will be
+1 512 597 6253
Access Codes
All courses will have their own access codes and these can be found on the Academic Calendar.
Moderator Codes
These new lines are moderator controlled. This means that all callers will be placed ‘on hold’ until the trainer/moderator joins the call using a special pin code. The moderator pin codes have been published on the Academic Calendar and should only be used by students in the case of a trainer not presenting for a class (see Emergency Bridge line below)
Emergency Bridge line
The Emergency Bridge line has been cancelled and instead, the moderator codes for all teleclasses have been published on the Academic Calendar. A student should only dial in as a moderator if, after 5 mins into the scheduled call, the trainer has not presented for class. By dialling in as a moderator you connect all callers waiting on hold and the class will then have the option to use the class time to network and connect with each other, or, continue on with a class discussion around the scheduled topic.
Important! If you dial in as the moderator you must be able to stay on the call for the duration of the class (if you drop off the call it will cancel the call and dump all callers).
